Spring Festival

In China, the most famous holiday is Chinese New Year. Traditionally, it celebrates a new year. Normally, people do not have time to come to family reunion except for the Spring Festival. It is the most important holiday in China because it is the opportunity for family members spending time together. Generally, people work far away from hometown, and they do not have time to visit their parents and relatives because it takes a long time for the round trip plus they do not have long holiday like Chinese New Year.
When Spring Festive is coming, each family begins to prepare New Year stuff, such as new clothes, food, and decoration of house and so on. There are several things are essential: couplets and lamps for decoration, which symbolize prosperity and bliss; fish and oranges for food – fish represent remnant that means you will not run out of your money and you are opulent, and oranges represent auspicious because in Mandarin the pronunciation of orange sounds like the pronunciation of lucky.
Normally, we have ten days off. Visiting relatives is the main active. However, right now more and more people travel around the world during Chinese New Year. The traditionally actives are eating, talking, watching show and play Majiang.  We prepare abundant food; fish, chicken, pork and diverse soup are common food. Each family has similar dishes while they are tested different because in China we do not have recipe. During the Eve dinner, watching the TV show is the dinner’s main melody. Majiang is invariably traditional game, and people play it after dinner.
It is precious festival for me because I seldom visit my parents after I graduated from high school. During undergraduate study, I visited my parents once pay year; when I got job, I went back home once two years because it is horrible to book a ticket. Spending time with family is always fantastic, especially with the unique atmosphere and euphoric surroundings.
